In a spectacular display of festive delight, Lerwick came alive on December 2nd as over a thousand merry souls gathered for the annual Christmas Parade. The crisp afternoon air buzzed with excitement, setting the perfect stage for the arrival of Santie.

Santie made a grand entrance via the RNLI lifeboat amidst a sea of enthusiastic faces on the esplanade. Cheers echoed as Santa joined the parade, leading the procession through Commercial Street.

Steve Mathieson, Chairman of Living Lerwick, expressed gratitude on behalf of the town centre businesses. He emphasized that this annual parade is a way to express gratitude to the loyal customers while officially signalling the start of the festive season.

Now, with the twinkling lights adorning the town and the tree proudly standing tall at the cross, Lerwick Town centre is ready for Christmas.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in making the parade an exciting and enjoyable event for everyone.

Please note we will keep the Christmas opening hours updated regularly so that you can plan your Christmas shopping. Don't miss out on the ongoing Christmas window competition and the elf hunt, both running until the 21st of December.
