About the Business
Having already run a rural business in Aith, Lynn is delighted to now be part of something bigger in the hub of Shetland. She loves being on the street, enjoying the camaraderie and support from fellow businesses, and has felt a huge amount of encouragement from the public since opening her Lerwick shop.
What began as a small side hustle – a cake fridge at the side of the road – soon grew into a tea room in 2019. Like many businesses, Lynn had to adapt through Covid, transforming her tea room into takeaway service, creating an outdoor seating area, and eventually turning the inside into a gift shop, it has now returned back to a tea room and gift shop. Winters in rural Aith were tough, so in June 2025 Lynn opened her cake fridge and gift shop in Lerwick, with hopes of being open year-round.
Why Lerwick and what makes it special to you
Lynn has fond memories of visiting Lerwick as a child – trips into town were a real day out where you’d get dressed up. Now, she loves being part of that same hub of activity. She enjoys the buzz of the town centre, the friendly atmosphere, and the harbour views where there’s always something happening.
Community Connections
Her Lerwick shop provides an outlet for customers who can’t easily travel to the Aith tea room, giving more people the chance to enjoy their baking and browse her gift collection closer to home.
