LOCUS

On Tuesday, February 20th, we had the pleasure of attending the Developing Young Workforce careers event held at the Clickimin Leisure Complex.

The event was an eye-opening experience, showcasing the multitude of opportunities available for young people in our community. There was such a diverse range of opportunities presented to the attendees. From apprenticeships to volunteer opportunities, part-time roles to full-time careers, there was something for everyone.

It was inspiring to see so many organisations come together to support and empower our youth as they navigate their career paths.

Living Lerwick was delighted to represent and advocate for our members in our town centre, highlighting the various career opportunities available within our local community. We were there to promote summer work, weekend work, work experience, and casual employment opportunities as well as career opportunities such as Banking, Opticians, Shop Mangers and Pharmacists, aiming to connect young people with roles that align with their interests and skills.

There were high levels of motivation and enthusiasm exhibited by the young people that we met. They were eager to learn, ask questions, and explore potential career paths.

Events like these are invaluable in bridging the gap between education and employment, providing young people with the resources and support they need to succeed in the workforce. By fostering a strong connection between employers and young talent, we can create a more vibrant and prosperous community for generations to come.

Thanks to everyone who came by and chatted to us, filled out a form and took away information on local opportunities. We wish everyone we met, all the best for their future.
