We recently had the pleasure of meeting Dee, the new owner of Loose Ends.
While Dee may be new to the helm of this well-known business, Dee is certainly no stranger to running her own business. In her previous venture, she worked as a Shiatsu practitioner until an injury prompted her to reassess her career path.
Dee's face may already be familiar to some of you who have frequented Loose Ends in the past. That's because she dedicated over six years of her time there, developing a deep connection with both the business and its customers. So, when she learned that Marjory was looking to retire and pass on the reins, Dee took the opportunity without hesitation.
Dee’s offerings at Loose Ends span a wide range, from commercial wool and knitting needles to haberdashery and sewing supplies, including quilting fabrics and cottons. Dee takes pride in promoting local wools, such as Uradale wool, and is eager to expand her selection to provide knitters with even more options.
Loose Ends already had a solid reputation and a prime location in the heart of the town centre. The town centre draws a significant amount of foot traffic from both locals and visitors alike. Dee said she never had any plans to open the business anywhere else in Shetland. Her fondness for Lerwick town centre and her initial visit to Da Street were pivotal in her decision to settle in Shetland; she was captivated by its charm and uniqueness.
Since taking over, Dee has been overwhelmed by the warm reception from the local community, expressing her gratitude for their unwavering support.
Stepping into Loose Ends, customers are greeted by an inviting atmosphere and a wide array of offerings.
Dee's vision for the future includes a complete overhaul of the shop floor, with plans to introduce new layouts and expanded product lines. From full ranges to luxury wools and affordable acrylics, Dee aims to cater to every knitting enthusiast's needs.
Beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, Dee's academic pursuits are equally impressive, earning four degrees and currently pursuing a degree in Fine Art.
As Dee embarks on this new chapter, we eagerly anticipate the exciting developments and continued success of Loose Ends under Dee's guidance.
