At sixteen, Jennie moved to Edinburgh to study childcare, where she first learned the importance of supporting the whole person, emotionally, physically, and socially. Those early lessons laid the foundation for everything that followed. Healing was not only something she studied; it was part of her upbringing. On her mum’s side, several family members are gifted healers working in spiritual and holistic therapies. Growing up around this gave Jennie a natural openness to energy and intuition, and in her twenties she began practising Reiki, something she has now been doing for over 30 years.
Her professional journey has always centred on supporting people. After training as a nursery nurse, she went on to become a nurse, working on a rehabilitation ward supporting adults living with lifelong conditions and those recovering from surgery, strokes, and cancer. Working closely with physiotherapists deepened her appreciation for movement, independence, and holistic therapies such as massage, reflexology, acupressure, and the emotional side of recovery.
As her young family grew, Jennie moved into social care, predominantly supporting adults living with dementia. She later became a Dementia Champion for Shetland, helping staff, families, and communities develop greater understanding and compassion for those living with dementia. She progressed into a role as social care trainer with the SIC, teaching, coaching, and mentoring across education, health, and social work and then worked as a social care manager.
Alongside this, she trained as an oncology massage therapist with CLAN in Lerwick, supporting individuals living with cancer and their families. Through Macmillan, she also completed Train the Trainer in end of life care, strengthening her skills in dignity, presence, and compassionate support. Throughout her career, whether in dementia care, rehabilitation, oncology support or training, one belief remained constant: healing is not just clinical, it is deeply human.
Like many people, lockdown became a moment of reflection. Jennie took the opportunity to step back, focus on self-care, and reflect on her future, reconnecting with what truly mattered to her. That period of pause gently led her back to the therapies she had always been passionate about, bringing together her clinical knowledge, holistic understanding, and spiritual awareness.
And that’s when Reset Well-being Therapies was born.

Why Lerwick town centre?
When deciding where to base her business, having a larger treatment room and being surrounded by like-minded people were key factors for Jennie. The Mission on Harbour Street offered exactly that — a welcoming space shared with others who value wellbeing and community.

A warm welcome from the community
Jennie speaks very positively about the response she’s had since settling into the town centre. The other tenants in the building have been “very welcoming and kind,” helping to create a supportive and positive environment for both practitioners and clients.
The benefits of being in the town centre
Operating from Lerwick town centre brings real advantages. Jennie feels it offers people more choice, more flexibility with opening days, and a greater variety of businesses on the street.
Looking to the future
For Jennie, the future of Reset Wellbeing Therapies is all about evolution — continuing to adapt and respond to people’s needs, offering care, support and space for wellbeing as those needs change over time.
Reset Wellbeing Therapies is more than a business — it’s the culmination of a lifetime of caring, learning and listening.
