LOCUS

Tell us about your business

We’ve grown from being primarily a takeaway into a welcoming coffee shop where you can enjoy quality, ethically sourced teas and coffees, browse brewing equipment, tuck into delicious home bakes, and shop a carefully curated range of retail items from talented local craft makers.

How long have you been in Lerwick town centre?

We’ll be celebrating 3 years in Lerwick town centre on 7 July, and we’re already planning something special to mark the occasion!

What’s your most popular product or service right now?

Our Cocktail Masterclasses are proving to be a huge hit with people of all ages. They offer a fun, interactive, hands-on experience where we take you through the stories behind famous (and sometimes lesser-known!) cocktails. Of course, you’ll get to make your own cocktail too, while enjoying a delicious charcuterie board with friends throughout the evening.

Do you have a personal favourite product?

I’m definitely a tea drinker (although I do enjoy the occasional oat flat white!) and my personal favourite has to be eteaket’s Lapsang Souchong tea from China.

What makes your business unique?

As well as being a coffee shop, we also offer recognised training courses for local hospitality businesses.

Our Barista classes are especially popular and can be tailored to suit businesses, whether it’s for a new start-up, training new staff, or simply a refresher course.

We also offer sessions for groups of friends wanting a different kind of experience or one-to-one guidance for aspiring home baristas.

What do you love most about being part of the local community?

The Street is such an important part of Lerwick, and over the past three years it’s been lovely getting to know the other local businesses.

As a community, we have a strong voice, and it’s important to come together and share views on things that affect us all.

Do you have anything special planned for Scotland Loves Local Week?

Rhubarb and lots of it!

Following the runaway success of our Iced Rhubarb Matchas, we’re going all out for Scotland Loves Local Week with a delicious selection of rhubarb-inspired treats on the cake counter, alongside some exciting new rhubarb drinks.

Why should someone visit your business?

We truly have something for everyone. From traditional favourites like custard creams and Whalsay Huffsie to much-loved treats including Biscoff Millionaires and Lemon Drizzle, all perfectly paired with great tasting teas and coffees.

Younger visitors can enjoy our Kids Special Hot Chocolate topped with a toasted marshmallow, while anyone looking for a quick lunch can grab one of our freshly prepared sandwiches from Scalloway Meat Company.
