About the Business
The inspiration behind Blyde Welcome came from a love of Bettys in Yorkshire – a place known for its quality coffee and friendly service. With that same passion for creating a welcoming atmosphere, the dream of running a coffee shop became a reality. Today, Blyde Welcome is more than just a café – it’s a place where everyone can feel at home.
Community Connections
Blyde Welcome is deeply rooted in community spirit. From their book swap shelf (raising funds for the local MS Society), to providing opportunities for people from the Moving On project and supporting local clubs with raffle prizes – they’re always finding ways to give back. They also host local crafters, take part in shows and fairs, and provide a space that many describe as “special” “homely”
Why Lerwick?
For the Celia, Lerwick is home. It’s where childhood memories were made, from visiting shops to enjoying the buzz of the town. Celia loves the colourful flowers and bunting in summer, and the sparkle of the Christmas lights in winter – all of which make Lerwick a beautiful backdrop for her café.
What They’d Love You to Know
Blyde Welcome isn’t just a coffee stop – it’s a cosy, social hub where everyone (including your four-legged friends) is welcome. They can offer brunch which includes fresh acai bowls, pastries, and plenty of good coffee, while afternoon tea fans can look forward to themed events later this year – with a promise that they’ll be wicked! You can also treat yourself to an afternoon tea box or a charcuterie board to take away.
Please note Brunch/Afternoon Tea/Charcuterie boards must all be pre booked (min of 4 for brunch or afternoon tea and min of 2 for charcuterie and afternoon tea boxes)
