About the Business
After struggling to find work due to being “overqualified” and dealing with the effects of chemo brain, she found a fresh start through Business Gateway courses and support. From there, her dream of working for herself became a reality – even if it means 60-hour weeks during the busy tourist season!
Why Lerwick?
For Dee, Lerwick town centre was love at first sight. Growing up in a city of over half a million in the USA, and later living in Aberdeen, she longed for somewhere smaller, friendlier, and more personal. Shetland ticked all the boxes, and Lerwick has since become her forever home.
Community Connections
Loose Ends is more than just a craft shop – it’s a community hub. Dee takes pride in listening to her customers and stocking the knitting, crochet, and sewing supplies they ask for, so they always have what they need when inspiration strikes. The shop supports local groups with raffle prizes, and is also a drop-off point for Helping Hands, a charity that sends handmade blankets and items across the world to those in need.
What They’d Love You to Know
Dee loves creating a welcoming space where people can browse, get inspired, and enjoy a bit of crafting magic. There’s even a comfy chair for spouses and partners who might prefer to sit back while others shop. For Dee, the joy is in making Loose Ends a happy place for everyone.
So whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just picking up a new hobby, Loose Ends is ready to help you find the tools, yarns, and inspiration you need – all right here in Lerwick Town Centre!
