Join us for 2019 parade and light switch-on.
The 2019 Christmas parade and light switch-on will be led by Santa Claus once again this year.
The RNLI Lerwick Lifeboat crew will collect Santa from the north pole and drop him off at Albert Wharf at 3.30pm on Saturday 30th November. From there, he will make his way up to the lower fort, accompanied by his friends from Peerie Foxes nursery and the Moar family with their fantastic procession of festive trikes.
The Lerwick Jarl Squad and Brass band will meet Santa outside Thulecraft for the journey along Commercial Street, ending at the Market Cross where the town cetnre tree will be lit.
Local shops and cafes will have discounts and special offers available on the day - make sure to pop in and see what's on offer. A nativity scene with live animals will be in place in Harrison Square for some outstanding 'selfie' opportunities from midday to 3pm.
Please note that Commercial Street will be closed to traffic from 1pm to 5pm on the day of the event.
