30 Nov - 24 Dec 2020 2:00pm - 5:00pm, Commercial Street
A new socially-distant, outdoor and accessible celebration of Shetland Film Archive will take place in and around Commercial Street this winter, from Monday 30th November to Thursday 24th December.
The Winderfil trail will screen silent films from the archive in shop windows across da street, which will screen from 2pm each day until shops close. Some screens will even be left on into the dark nights for those out walking, late night shopping or enjoying some festive hospitality at town centre bars and restaurants.
The trail will take in a century of amazing archive film including recent additions to the archive such as scenes of Lerwick in the 1930's, the wreck of the St Sunniva, and shots of Lerwick and da Street in 1960, generously donated by John, Derek and Isobel Irvine.
Curated by Maya Darell Hewin and Graham Webster from Shetland Film Archive, the project is being delivered in partnership with Living Lerwick, as part of our wider calendar of events for winter 2020.
As an additional interactive element, visitors can download a trail path and quiz here or pick up a paper copy from the VisitScotland office at the Market Cross.
