The winner of the very close and hotly contested town centre window competition has been announced this afternoon as Specsavers – Lerwick.
The dual window which was designed and decorated with the pupils at Cunningsburgh Nursery, depicts a peaceful snowy town scene with added snowflakes made from handprints.
Specsavers have partnered with the nursery for several window displays over the past few years and staff are delighted that the public have chosen their Christmas window as the town centre favourite.
Specsavers took first place with 111 votes between the online QR code voting and the written voting system in place in various shops. Other highly commended window designs include Ninian on a close second with 108 votes, the 2023 winner, Blyde Welcome, with 92 votes, and Jamieson’s Knitwear with 70 votes.
Emma Miller, Project Manager for Living Lerwick said “The effort that goes into the window decorations each year is always outstanding and it’s lovely to see the town looking so festive with themed windows and Christmas lights. There are only a few shopping days left until Christmas and plenty of amazing gifts to be found in town centre shops – and vouchers for the undecided or for restaurants or salons.
I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t already been in for a look at these fantastic windows to head in ower and get your Christmas shopping done!”
The Naughty Elf Trail continues up until Christmas with entry forms available from the Shetland Soap Company.
