LOCUS

This well-utilised seated area, owned by the council, has been a popular spot for locals and visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings. With the aim of restoring its vibrancy, Living Lerwick and Cope-Shetland Garden Co are working together to introduce a burst of colour and create an inviting space where the public can continue to unwind and watch the world go by.

Joanne Williams, Project Assistant for Living Lerwick, said she was delighted to work with Shetland Garden Co to bring some much-needed colour back into Harrison Square. We hope that the seated area will encourages people of all ages to visit Harrison Square and enjoy our beautiful town centre. Joanne added that this wouldn’t have been possible without funding from Lerwick Community Council for which we are very grateful for.

Steven Coutts, Chief Executive Officer for COPE said, it was great to be involved in this project. Our team at Shetland Garden Co were delighted to speak to people as we planted, and explain about all the opportunities we are creating at COPE Ltd. We now look forward to seeing the plants blossom and looking nice throughout the summer.
