Living Lerwick is thrilled to announce the lucky winners of its much-anticipated Christmas Draw and the champions of the Christmas Window Competition.

The six fortunate winners, selected through a draw based on their spend on the street cards, are:

• Wilma Polson

• Niko Crow

• Aileen Blance

• Martin Naylor

• Sam Greshan

• Eileen Brooke-Freeman

They each win £175 worth of gifts and vouchers from Living Lerwick members who participated in the Spend at the Street campaign.

In conjunction with the festive draw, Living Lerwick is delighted to crown the winner of the highly anticipated Christmas Window Competition. This year's title goes to Blyde Welcome, securing a whopping 135 votes. Blyde Welcome, a new addition to our street that opened its doors in July of this year, showcased beautiful window displays featuring a hand-knitted nativity set by Grace Barnes and Valerie Phillips against a stunning hand-painted backdrop created by Sean Boyle. Their additional Christmas scene was crafted by the Blyde team: Carleen Hughson and Eleanor Arthur.

Celia Smith, owner of Blyde Welcome, expressed her delight in clinching the accolade this year. She said that participating in the Window Competition was great fun and they received numerous compliments throughout the festive season. Ninan secured second place, with Intersport and Envi tying for joint third.

The Winter Wonderland Grotto was a huge success, with 361 children visiting over two weekends to see Santa and receive a gift. Volunteers from the Lerwick Ladies Lifeboat Guild assisted Santa, and a donation will be made to the Lifeboat from the proceeds in the new year.

The Elf hunt continues until this Sunday, and many shops will be open for those last-minute gifts.

Emma Miller, Living Lerwick Project Manager, said, “I’d like to extend a thank you to everyone who supported our local businesses this year, on behalf of the Living Lerwick Directors and the town centre businesses.”

The Spend at da Street loyalty scheme will continue through 2024. One winner will be chosen to receive a £50 town centre voucher, given away before the double draw in December for the usual extended prize packages. Customers collect one stamp for every £20 spent in the 40+ participating businesses and submit completed cards for a chance to win.
