LOCUS

Voting is now open to select the two designs which will be commissioned to add two new murals to the LOCUS public art project. Four mural designs have been created, and this public vote will determine the winning two - giving the Shetland public a say in what they see in our town centre.

From Tuesday 23 to Sunday 28 February, people living in Shetland will be able to vote for their two favourite designs either by following this weblink, by voting in-person with a slip outside the Peerie Shop Café, or emailing their two choices to us at [email protected] (with 1a or 1b and 2a or 2b).

The winning designs will be created at two sites.

The first site is at 98 Commercial Street (on the wall opposite the Peerie Shop Café).

The second site will use the mural across two walls, of 88 Commercial Street (Bayes) and 143 Commercial Street (the opposite wall on the side of No.88).

Exploring the theme of Where we are / Where we’re going / Where we’ve come from, the winning works will accompany four newly commissioned public artworks for Lerwick by leading Scottish contemporary artists, as part of LOCUS 1. These works are in fabrication and are due to be installed later this year, with an accompanying art trail and map by local artist Chloe Keppie.

This survey is aimed at the Shetland community - at the end of this survey, we will ask you for your home postcode.

Voting is now open at this link until Sunday 28 February.
