A cheque was presented to the Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal today on behalf of town centre businesses.

Donations of £774.40 were gathered from the street party held earlier in the summer, as well as entry fees paid by the runners in the recent 5k race as part of Lerwick Shopping Week.

Living Lerwick director, Michael Laurenson handed over a cheque to appeal representative, Christena Irvine this afternoon in the shop at Cee and Jay’s.

Michael said “I’m delighted we are able to offer this great total towards the scanner appeal on behalf of all town centre businesses. The events arranged by Living Lerwick bring folk into the town and if we are able to help give something back to the community while providing our goods and services to our customers, then everybody benefits.”

Living Lerwick would like to extend thanks to all those who attended events and made donations towards this total.
