LOCUS

The national Scotland Loves Local campaign will run from 26th August to 1st September with customers across the country being urged to pledge their support for local businesses in their area.

When we love local, we can create better places to live, work and visit. By loving local, we are choosing to back local businesses, and build stronger communities. In an island community it is vital to support those local independent businesses who employ local people, donate to local causes and supply the goods and services we all need on a day to day basis.

Living Lerwick is encouraging all Shetland residents to sign up to the Scotland Loves Local Pledge to support local businesses. From Monday 26th September local shops and services will have pledge cards availble for signing in person, or anyone wishing to sign can also do so on the Scotland Loves Local website.

The local loyalty scheme, Spend at da Street will be extended during September to encourage more people to sign the pledge and spend their money in our local enomony. Four winners will each recieve a £50 gift voucher for a town centre business.

Scotland Loves Local Pledge

Every time we buy from a local shop, enjoy a meal out in a local restaurant, visit a local attraction or order from a local business, we are deciding to make a difference. We are helping businesses in our local community to thrive, protecting jobs and encouraging investment which will make the place we live stronger and more sustainable.

That is why we are signing the Scotland Loves Local Pledge - to not just Think Local First, but to act local in everything we do. Our promise to our region’s residents is simple: We will choose local, prioritising the people and businesses around us at every opportunity. We will think local and spend local whenever we can. We are encouraging everyone to join us in doing so. By taking action together today, we can forge a brighter tomorrow
