The FIFA World Cup 2018 was awarded to the winners again today, but this time made from chocolate and on a sunny afternoon in a change from the torrential downpour following the final game on Sunday.

Love from Shetland represented champions, France, during the tournament in the Living Lerwick World Cup Competition. Angelique Klusek from the town centre shop was presented with the trophy by Robin Mouatt from the local VisitScotland office who represented Croatia during the contest.

The impressive trophy was created by Dave Williams of Mirrie Dancer Chocolatier, who have also donated a prize for the public competition along with Thulecraft and the Camera Centre. Entries can still be submitted for this via email to [email protected] or to Cee & Jays or the Camera Centre until Friday 20th July. The winners will be announced over the weekend.

Living Lerwick Project Manager, Emma Miller, said “It’s been a fun way to keep up with the World Cup and give it a bit of local interest. Some of the shops made a fantastic job of decorating their windows to support their teams and we’ve had really good feedback that the bairns enjoyed collecting the flags.”
